August 14th, 2010 | by admin |The stage is set for a grand celebration of the 63rd anniversary of Independence Day tomorrow along with the rest of the country. In Aizawl, the Chief Minister, Mr. Lal Thanhawla will unfurl the National Flag at a function to be held in Assam Rifles Parade Ground at 7:30 a.m. Inspecting the ceremonial parade, the Chief Minister will also address the gathering. Meanwhile security is beefed up in and around Aizawl to ensure peaceful celebration of the day. The District SP, Mr. Lalbiakthanga Khiangte said, the Police are on duty round the clock to prevent breach of peace and tranquility. He also said, a Bangladesh national, Samsul Haque, believed to be a member of Muslim Liberation Tiger Force has been rounded up in Khatla locality Aizawl last Sunday afternoon. Samsul Haque has been pursued by SIB New Delhi, BSF and Aizawl Police for several days. The SP also said, the Muslim Liberation Tiger Force of Bangladesh and HUJI are understood to have made a plan in Igah Doruislam Madrassa in Chattagram District of Bangladesh to disrupt Independence Day celebration in different places. In Saiha, the chief guest at the function at 7:30 a.m will be the Assembly Speaker, Mr. R. Romawia. Our Saiha Corr. said, the Speaker has arrived in Saiha this afternoon. In Lawngtlai, LAD Minister, Mr. PC Lalthanliana will grace the function as the chief guest. In Lunglei, the Deputy Speaker, Mr. John Rotluangliana will be the chief guest at the function to be held in LDSC Ground No.-I at 7 tomorrow morning. In Tlabung Sub Divisional Hqrs., the chief guest will be Mr. Lalrobiaka, MLA if the heavy road block near Hauruang village can be cleared by the PWD.
Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister, Mr. H. Rohluna will be the chief guest in Serchhip District Hqrs. Our Serchhip Corr. said, the venue for celebration of the red letter day has been shifted to Khawtetlang field as Serchhip Field No. 2 is full of mud. In Champhai, the function will be held in Chhangphut field at 7:30 tomorrow morning and the Education Minister, Mr. Lalsawta will unfurl the tricolour. In Kolasib, the Revenue Minister, Mr. JH Ro\huama will unfurl the national flag at a function in =umpui field tomorrow morning. In Mamit, the Sports Minister, Mr. Zodintluanga will be the chief guest at a function to be held at 7 a.m. in Mamit playground. Meanwhile road blocks between Lengpui to Mamit in the National Highway No. 44-A has been cleared for light vehicles only.

Lalhunpuia of New Vervek village was killed in a mud slides between Lungsum and New Vervek last Thursday night. The VC member of New Vervek, Mr. PC Vanlalthlana told our Corr. that Lalhunpuia was missing after he left his friends on foot while returning to his village from Ratu as the vehicle in which they were traveling was blocked by a landslide. Suspecting the mud slide between the two villages, the search party followed its course and found his bag and some parts of his body today. The funeral took place today in his village after completion of all formalities by the Magistrate and the Police.

Excise & Narcotics Enforcement Staff of Serchhip and Chhiahtlang VDP destroyed ganja planted near Tlangtla river between Chhiahtlang and Sialsuk. Our Serchhip Corr. understands that the ganja was planted in a deep forest where there is no traceable footpath. Two suspects, Khualdawngliana and Ricky Lalhriatpuia of Chhiahtlang Kawnveng were arrested by the Excise & Narcotics Enforcement Staff for interrogation.

Lunglei District- All Vehicle Organisation Joint Action Committee (AVOJAC) will not lift news papers and Cable TV programme disc from Aizawl to Lunglei from Monday. The boycott call is given by AVOJAC in retaliation against the decision of Lunglei District MJA. Our Lunglei Corr. understands that misunderstanding between the two groups was triggered by non publication of the activities of AVOJAC by the newspapers in Lunglei.

Aizawl South-III Constituency Congress leaders retreat was held in Aibawk Community Hall last Thursday. Addressing the meeting, Aizawl District Congress Committee President, Mr. Ch. Lalngaihawma and the MPCC leaders asked the party workers to intensify their political activities for more enrollment in the on going membership drive. The meeting was attended by the Unit Office Bearers and VC members of 26 villages.

Bethlehem Venglai Branch KTP also donated 78 units of blood for patients in Presbyterian Hospital today. The blood donation camp was organized in connection with the 38th anniversary of the Branch KTP.

The Platinum Jubilee of Young Mizo Association was celebrated in Vanapa Hall today. Addressing the function, the Central YMA President, Mr. Lal Chungnunga asked the members to rededicate themselves to the motto of the YMA. He also asked the members to show a true christian life while development works and their negative impacts are being faced. The President reminded the youths of the value of punctuality which can be followed all the day long for dividing the traditional value and ethos of the Mizos. In this function, the former Central YMA President, Mr. C. Rokhuma released the Platinum Jubilee Souvenir, Zawlbuk. The Vice President, Mr. JH Zoremthanga also delivered a speech on the campaign theme, social reforms. Other highlights of the programme included group singing, solo and short drama.

Three persons killed in yesterday’s truck accident near Kawnpui village were handed over to their relatives for funeral today after post mortem examination today. As already reported, the accident happened when the driver lost control of the truck as the left front tyre burst near Tuitun river. Those killed in the accident were Ngaihlira, VCP of Thingsulthliah, the truck driver, C. Lalfamkima and cement mistiri, Jamar Uddin of Karimganj.
