February 11th, 2010 | by admin |The Council of Ministers approved Prohibition of Mizoram Child Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Ruels 2009. The Cabinet meeting held today under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister, Mr. Lal Thanhawla also approved Mizoram State Cooperative Service Amendment Rules 2009 and the Mizoram State Government Employees Proficiency Apprisal Report Rule 2010. Decision could not be made on four more agenda items listed for today’s Cabinet meeting and these are creation of Pualreng Widlife Sanctuary, revision of pay of teachers and the equivalent cadre in the University and Colleges on the recommendation of the 6th Central Pay Commission, amendment of operational guideline of selected Centrally Sponsor Scheme proposed for adoption under NLUP and lifting of ban on Leave Travel Concession for the employees of Mizoram Government.
On completion of 10 months long basic training, 18 Assistant Sub Inspector of Police had passing out parade in PTC Lungverh today. Addressing the new Police officers, the DGP, Mr. Lalrokhuma Pachuau underlined the need for honesty and dedication in the service of the Police. He also asked them to discharge their duties to remember that the job of the Police is not easy. The Chief Guest also gave away prizes to the 3 cadets who performed well in various competitions during their training period.

Meeting of Board of Governor of Icfai University Mizoram was held in Aizawl yesterday under the chairmanship of the Chancellor, Mr. Subhash Sarnikar. The meeting noted with gratitude the granting of recognition to Icfai University Mizoram by the University Grant Commission and appointment of retired IAS officer, Mr. P. Rohmingthanga as the Pro-Vice Chancellor of the University. The meeting discussed introduction of B.Ed programme from the next academic year.

Mizoram Police arrested Reagan Laltanpuia of College Veng Aizawl in connection with the mysterious death of Lalramthianghlimi, alias Seni of Tuikual North. Disclosing this to the reporters, the District SP, Mr. Lalbiakthanga Khiangte said, Reagan Laltanpuia has confessed the circumstances leading to the death of Laramthianghlimi whose body was found in the drain in Tuikual South on the 20th of January in a semi decomposed state. A breakthrough was made when the mobile phone of Laramthianghlimi was recovered from B. Siamthangi of College Veng Aizawl, mother of Reagan Laltanpuia. After arrest, Reagan Lalanpuia confessed to the Police that he and the decease purchase heroin on 3rd December last year and shared the same for injection. After pushing the drug into Lalramthianghlimi, the remaining heroin in the syringe was accidentally broke by the deceased. This had enraged him and he knocked her down on a step. Eventually Lalramthianghlimi died and he pushed her down to the drain leaving the place with the mobile of the deceased.

Cancer patients being treated in Aizawl Civil Hospital asked the Health Minister to extend Chemo Therapy treatment in Aizawl Civil Hospital beyond the first of March this year. In a press release, the cancer patients said, the hospital authority has decided to shift their treatment centre from Civil Hospital to Cancer Hospital in Zemabawk with effect from the Ist March and this is likely to cause inconveniences to the patients.

Mizoram Pradesh Congress Committee said, allegations leveled by the MNF Party against the Congress Government was baseless. In a press release, MPCC alleged that the recent press release of MNF Party was to divert attention of the people while the MNF Party leaders are busily engaged in leadership tussle within the Party.

Comptroller and Auditor General of India, Mr. Vinod Rai called on the Chief Minister in his office yesterday. The Chief Minister also arrange a dinner last evening in his official residence in honour of the visiting dignitary. In an interaction, the Chief Minister underlined the need to upgrade Accountant General office in Mizoram to be a full fledged office of the Accountant General which is presently functioning with Audit Wing only. He also asked him to take initiative for prompt issue of Audit Certificate which is needed by the Centre for sanctioning additional fund under various schemes including CSS. Mr. Vinod Rai also asked the Chief Minister to pay attention to Audit Para in which the auditors observe irregularities which needed clarification. In this meeting, the Home Minister, Mr. R. Lalzirliana, DP&AR Minister, Mr. H. Liansailova and Senior Finance officers were also present. The CAG was assisted by Addl Deputy CAG, Mr. Anupam Kulshestra, Principal Director, Mrs. Saroj Punhani and other officers.
