January 27th, 2010 | by admin |The Home Minister, Mr. R. Lalzirliana said, the Government will not tolerate those who act against the will of the people. Stating this while inaugurating ‘Social Reform’ the campaign theme of YMA for the current in Vanapa Hall today, the Home Minister informed the gathering that the Government will enforce the law of the land with no discrimination to anyone and no one will be allowed to disrupt peaceful condition in the State. He also said that the General Secretary of Mizoram Bru Displaced People’s Forum, R. Laldawngliana was arrested by the Police for his alleged involvement in the killing of Zarzokima of Bungthuam village in November, last year. Thanking YMA for the role it played to discard bursting of crackers as a part of celebration of Christmas and New Year, the Home Minister said, that act was generator of hope for successful launching of the drive for social reform. He also underlined the need for review of the function of various agencies involved in checking and control of incidence of HIV/AIDS. In this meeting, the former Central YMA President, Mr. JH Zoremthanga and the Vice President, Mr. C. Zoramliana also highlighted important points to be stressed for launching successful drive in social reform. The inaugural function was presided over by Central YMA President, Mr. Lalchungnunga. Meanwhile the the programmes for grand celebration of Platinum Jubilee of YMA have been chalked out which will include Football Tournament, choir competition in Mizo traditional songs and sports in the Branch level.
The new Press Club building in Saiha was inaugurated by the DRDA Project Director, Mr. N. Chakhai. The fund for construction of the new RCC building provided under BADP was 10 lakh rupees and the building measures 640 sq. feet.

Federation of Mizoram Govt. School Teachers laid down a condition to enable them to extend cooperation to SSA. In a press release issued today after its Executive Committee meeting held in Aizawl today, the Govt. Teachers Federation said that the text books are to be handed over to the School authority in their respective Schools. In retaliation to alleged blame on the teachers for delay in distribution of free text books, the Federation also asked their members not to attend any training under SSA and stop sending reports to SSA authority. They also asked School Education Department to withdraw fund provided for the Mid Day Meal and responsibility from the SSA authority to enable them to cooperate serving of Mid Day Meals in the Schools. The meeting was presided over by the Federation President, Mr. Lalrammawia.

The Executive Committee of Mizoram Pradesh Congress is to place Aizawl Development Authority (ADA) to be reviewed by the Cabinet. A decision to this effect was taken in its meeting held in Falkawn Referral Hospital campus today which was chaired by the Party President, Mr. Lal Thanhawla. The Party will also forward arguments for and against the ADA for examination of the Cabinet. The Committee also discussed NLUP and selection of trades for the beneficiaries. It was noticed that a large number of families have chosen piggery and poultry which may not have good prospect in the long run for creating sustainable occupation. Advising the Implementing Board and the Line Departments to review the same, the Committee also asked the people to bear delay in disbursement of assistance. The meeting also stressed the need for unity and good cooperation between the Party and the Government.

Serchhip District Rural Development Agency has so far created 83 days of employment for the rural people under NREGS. Our Serchhip Corr. reported that sanction for creation of 4 more days of employment has been accorded and the DRDA is poised to create 100 days of employment during the current financial year. Lawngtlai District has also achieved 80 days of employment and the remaining 20 days will be achieved during the coming 2 months.

Prodono Reang, one of the two accused in the attempted attack on an old woman of Vaisam village succumbed to his injuries in Kanchanpur hospital yesterday afternoon. According to Behliangchhip MZP sources, Prodono Reang sustained injuries while trying to evade the irate mob chasing him after the incident.

Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP) asked School authority to lay down norms on the tyle of stiching and the length of School uniforms for strict enforcement. In a press release issued today after the Executive Committee meeting, the MZP asked the School authority to enforce the norms to prevent the students from indecent appearance.

Reb Ribbon Inter Village Football Tournament begins today in 4 playgrounds. In todays matches the fate of many football teams were decided. As already stated, the tournament was kicked off by the Health Minister, Mr. Lalrinliana Sailo in a function held in Chanmari YMA Hall on Monday night. In this Inter Village Football Tournament, a record 212 teams are participating for creation of HIV/AIDS awareness among the youths.
