The Mizoram Civil Service Association objected Fitment Committee report for implementation of the 6th Central Pay Commission Report. Talking to reporters in Rural Development Conference Hall today, the MCS Association President, Mr. P.Lalchhuanga said, the Fitment Committee report is nothing more than degradation of Mizoram Government servant in pay and rank and the members of the Service Association are requested to object implementation of the report. He also said that the MCS Association have opted to remain in the 5th Pay Commission report which has been enjoyed by them for the last 10 years as implementation of the Fitment Committee report will amount to a great financial loss for them. He also said that the MCS officers asked the Government to pay them their pay arrear with effect from the 1st January, 2006.

Meanwhile Mizoram Police Service also objected implementation of the Fitment Committee report. In a press release issued today after the meeting of MPS officers presently posted in Aizawl, the MPS Officers said, Junior Grade and other Grades up to the rank of JAG Selection Grade will not have meaningful benefit with implementation of the Fitment Committee report and Junior Grade MPS officers, clubbed together in the same pay band with Inspector of Police are likely to get less than their subordinate officers which is likely to cause disciplinary problem in the chain of command. The meeting was chaired by the MPS Association President, Mr. John Neihlaia.

Meanwhile Federation of Mizoram Government Employees and Workers also voiced against implementation of the Fitment Committee report for which the Cabinet had already taken decision. In a press release issued after joint meeting of various Service Associations held in Information Department’s Auditorium today, FMGE&W said, revision of pay at the interval of 10 years is expected to benefit the Government servants while the Fitment Committee report prescribes slashing down of the pay of the Government servants which will cause financial loss to many Government servants. The meeting was chaired by FMGE&W President, Mr. T. Sangkunga.

Investigation Agencies in Directorate of Revenue Intelligence intercepted and seized around 2000 Red Sander Wood logs recently in Thuampui Veng, Aizawl. According to informed sources, the endangered forest produce was smuggled from Andra Pradesh to China through Moreh border trade point in Manipur. In this connection, 6 Chinese of Myanmar national were also arrested in this connection and released later by the Court without any action.

A surveyor of Irrigation Department, Zonunsanga was found death near Champhai this morning. According to Police sources, his body was found this morning by new Champhai people and the Police picked it up for post mortem examination in Champhai District hospital. The Police also said that there was no fatal injury found in any part of his body. The Department staff posted in Champhai held advanced Christmas picnic in a selected place near Champhai yesterday.

A Mizo woman, later identified to be Lalropuii of Vairengte died in Jawai Civil Hospital yesterday morning. She was admitted to the hospital by unidentified person in unconscious state. On learning the news, Shillong L.O, Mr. Alexander V. Chawngthu rushed to Jawai and inspected the dead body. In reply to our Corr. the L.O said, she was admitted to the hospital in unconcious condition and certain injuries were found in her body. On his request the Magistrate and the Police are taking necessary action for post mortem examination and registering a murder case in this connection.

Meanwhile the mass search for Chawnghmingthanga, a resident of Bungkawn, Aizawl, who was missing with a Taxi he was driving since last Tuesday night has been discontinued. Central YMA however asked all the YMA Branches to continue their search for him in their respective areas.

Champhai District Magistrate, Mr. Kumar Bidhuri prohibited cock fighting with betting with immediate effect. He also informed the people that hunting and killing of wild animals including birds is prohibited under Prevention of Cruelty to Animal Act.

Final selections of beneficiaries of NLUP are to get the first installment of assistance in their respective trades in January next year. In reply to our Corr. the spokesman of NLUP Implementing Board said, final selection of beneficiaries for the current financial year and their trades is currently made by the Village Level Implementing Committee on the basis of instruction given by the District Level Implementing Committee. The final lists from all the villages are to be submitted to the NLUP Implementing Board through the District Level Implementing Committee latest by the 20th of this month.

The National Executive Committee of the MNF Party which met in the Party office today reviewed the Party constitution which will be approved by the Party National Council meeting to be held on the 21st of January next year. The meeting also decided to close the Party office from the 18th of this month and reopen the same on the 12th of January next year.

Meanwhile Mizoram Peoples Conference Party (MPC) closed the Party office today to be reopened on January 12th. Addressing the meeting the Party President, Brig. T. Sailo, MLA, said that the basic need for development of the State is power. He however expressed dis-satisfaction with the step taken by the Congress Government’s for generation of more power.

Mr. HT Sangliana has been appointed Vice Chairman of the National Commission on Minorities. He has taken up his new assignment in New Delhi today. Talking to ZONET Corr. Mr. Sangliana said, he will try his level best for upliftment of the down trodden and the minority as envisaged in the constitution. Our Corr. understands that the new assignment he has taken is of the rank of Minister of State.

The result of Primary School leaving Certificate, Middle School leaving certificate and Middle English School leaving Certificate Examinations were declared today by Aizawl District Examination Committee. 70.68 percent in MSLC, 73.55 in MESL and 80.1 in PSLC examination passed in the examination. In the PSLC examination, Lalvenpuia of Sakawrtuichhun Primary School-I held the first position while Lalnunchhani Hnamte of P.C Girls School was the first in MSLC examination. In MESLC examination, Lalremsiama of Lalmalsawma Memorial School topped the list among the candidates.

37 Goa Cultural Troupe currently visiting Mizoram called on the Governor, Lt. Gen. MM Lakhera in Raj Bhavan today. Addressing the cultural troupe, the Governor thanked the Cultural Troupe for visiting the State under Cultural Exchange programme and informed them that Mizoram is one of the most peaceful states of the country. The cultural exchange programme is jointly organized by Sangeet Natak Academy, New Delhi, Goa Art and Culture Department and Mizoram Art and Culture Department.
