Commanding over two-third majority in the State Legislative Assembly coupled with the Congress in the ruling at the Centre, the Congress Government in Mizoram is expected to make a big leap in many fronts while the real achievement is nothing more than shortage of power, cooking gas and shortage of water supply for the poeple of Aizawl city. Referring to Greater Aizawl Water Supply Scheme Phase-II inaugurated in May 2007 before completion of the project, the MPC Working President alleged that there was no tangible progress in the construction work during the last one year except the Government’s announcement of termination of the contract of Johnson Eastern Power from November, this year. He also alleged that the Government has not fulfiled its promise to assist all families with 1lakh rupees under NLUP. He also alleged that shortage of power supply is because of discontinuation of 160 megawatts Bairabi Hydel Project which had already been started by the Peoples Conference Government. Col.
