Mizoram Ministerial Service Association asked the Government to implement the 6th Central Pay Commission report in their favour without any more delay. The resolution to this effect was passed in their 9th General Conference held in Vanapa Hall today. In another resolution, the MMSA voiced their objection to the proposed creation of direct recruitment quota in the Recruitment Rules of Superintendent. Other resolutions passed by the Association were lifting of the temporary halt in the implementation of Assured Career Progression Scheme (ACP), filling of the promotion quota of ministerial staff. The conference was chaired by the Association Senior Vice President, Mr. H. Lalbiaktluanga. The Service Association also elected 10 persons to hold the post of Office Bearers during 2009 – 2011 and the elected OBs are to make arrangement among themselves tomorrow for the posts to be held by each of them.

Meanwhile Mizoram Technical Service Union also asked the Government to implement the 6th Central Pay Commission recommendation in their favour without delay. This resolution was passed in the 23rd General Assembly held today in Chanmari YMA Hall. In another resolution, MTSU also asked the Government to implement ACP in favour of those who are due to get pay enhancement and asked the Government to pay Interim Relief and Dearness Allowance to them with effect from 1st January 2006. Addressing the Assembly, the Chief Secretary, Mr. Vanhela Pachuau asked the Government servants to be ready to devote 8 working hours for disposal of their respective assignments and not to keep any file pending. He also asked them to have interest in learning the rules and office work. The assembly was presided over by the Vice President, Mr. Lalthansiama Tochhawng.

Grid power supply received by Mizoram has gone down by about 5 megawatts as compared to the early part of this month. In reply to our Corr. the official in the State Load Despatch Centre said, availability of power during these days is from 43 to 50 megawatts which is far below the peak load demand. The reasons cited by them included shutting down of Loktak Hydel Project and limitted capacity of 132 Kopli-Khandong power transmission line.

In the second day of the winter Session of Mara Autonomous District Council today, the House could not take up business as per scheduled as the opposition members demanded revalidation of the questions listed for yesterday. The House had to devote a few hours to settle the demand of the opposition members as the Chairman, Mr. FC Zase objected the demand and told them that it was against the rules and procedures of conduct of business in the House. The session is to conclude tomorrow.

New Life Charity Society advised the people to pay attention to professional counselor to avoid suicide. In awareness campaign against suicide held in Hrangbana College hall today, Dr. Zawmsanga Sailo told the students that the rate of increase of suicide in Mizoram during this year is alarming and asked the youths and frustrated persons to seek for assistance from professional counselor.

Excise and Narcotics Enforcement Staff of Kolasib seized 27 cases of IMFL in one Soft-top Gypsy which bears AIGP-III designation plate and VIP light last evening. The Superintendent of Police, Kolasib, Mr. PC Lalchhuanawma told our Corr. that the driver Lalrinkima of Kulikawn Aizawl and the vehicle were also seized by the Excise Enforcement Staff. A case has been registered by the Excise under MLTP Act against the driver. The Police also registered a case against him for impersonation and cheating under Section 419 of IPC. The Magistrate in Kolasib remanded him to remain for some days in the Excise custody for some more interrogations.

Workshop on investors education was held in St. Pauls Higher Secondary School Auditorium today. Addressing the workshop, the Manager of Security Exchange Board of India, Kolkata, Mr. Prasanjit Dey asked the students to learn the operation of stock exchange and mutual fund as well for their own benefit. Describing the investment in the stock market as profitable legal investment, he also warned them against fake investment which will lead them into trouble. He also stressed the need to ascertain the authenticity and genuiness of the agency. The workshop jointly organized by Mizoram Consumer Union and Consumer Club of St. Pauls Higher Secondary School to benefit Commerce and Science students in Class 12. The workshop was presided over by MCU President, Mr. P. Lalupa.

Mizoram Board of School Education is to announce the result of Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate Special Examination tomorrow. In a notification, the MBSE said, the result will be available in the notice board of MBSE office in Chaltlang by 10:45 tomorrow morning.

Mizoram Talent Show being organized by ZONET Cable TV Network is to begin tomorrow night. In a meet the press programme in Aizawl Press Club today, the Organizing Committee said, the Talent Show will be telecast live in ZAMZO channel up to 18th December.

Sihphir Vengthar Milk Producer Association objected MULCO advertisement telecast in some local cable TV. Talking to reporters in Aizawl Press Club today, Sihphir Vengthar Milk Producer Association President, Mr. C. Lalthazuala said that they objected the derogatory remark and footage used by MULCO and this has led to a decline in the sale of their milk products. He also said that a legal notice has been served to MULCO and the Cable TV which telecast the said advertisement.
