Addressing Party workers meeting in MNF Party office, Mr. Zoramthanga said, those who originated from the east are God’s choosen people to govern themselves. Accusing the Congress Government of trying to justify its inaction by raising new issues like mismanagement of the previous Government, he also said that a lot of cleaning and gearing up work was done by the MNF Government when it took over the charge from the previous Congress Government. Referring to rotation plying of Taxis to ease traffic congestion in Aizawl, Mr. Zoramthanga said, the step taken by the Government will continue to be meaningless unless the new Government continue the previous Government’s project including construction of fly over in the city. He also said, construction of tunnel to connect east and west of Aizawl will be taken up by the new generation. Accusing the Congress Party of predicting the end of MNF era and conveying their prediction to the Centre in other language, Mr. Zoramthanga said, the prediction comes too early and asserted that the fate of MNF depend on the will of God.
The Chief Secretary, Mr. Vanhela Pachuau said, despite strengthening of a number of Departments work out to bring welfare to the people is not yet satisfactory. Addressing Government servants in Serchhip DC Conference Room today, the Chief Secretary also said that important development projects like construction of road, bridges and buildings are also not up to the mark because of poor workmanship. Reminding the Government servants that they are a few lucky citizens who are working under the Government with good salary, he asked them to bring forth more outputs to commensurate their pay and facilities granted to them. He also underlined the need for punctuality, honesty and dedication which form the bedrock of their service to the people. The Chief Secretary also inaugurated Chief Medical Officer’s office building which was constructed at the cost of 47 lakh, 26 thousand rupees.

The 6th general conference of Mizoram Secretariat Service Association (MSSA) was held in Tourist Lodge, Chaltlang today. Addressing the conference, DP&AR Minister, Mr. H. Liansailova reminded the Government servants that their service is to bring welfare of the people. He also underlined the need for punctuality, honesty and dedication for fulfillment of promises made to the people by the new Government. The conference was presided over by MSSA Vice President, Mr. T. Sangkunga.

HPC (D) headed by Lalhmingthanga Sanate submitted a memorandum to Union Home Minister demanding creation of Hmar Territorial Council under the Government of Mizoram. Terming the Memorandum of Settlement signed between the Government and HPC in 1994 as a political blunder, the HPC (D) said that this is the only way for meeting political aspiration of Hmar people. The memorandum was signed by HPC (D) President, Mr. Lalhmingthanga Sanate and the General Secretary, H. Zosangbera.

A training on Entrepreneurship Development Programme on Sustainable Economic Growth was held in Lunglei DIC Hall today. Addressing the training, the Deputy Commissioner, Mrs. M. Zohmingthangi expressed hope that the programme will immensely benefit the youths to take up such venture which in turn will improve the economic condition of the State. The training was attended by 30 selected youths.

Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Director, Mr. Lallungmuana reminded all the Gas Distributors that they are to install a telephone in their show room and attend all phone calls from their customers as per instruction in Section 5 of LPG Marketing Discipline Guidelines. He also informed them that they are to prominently display the rate of filled gas cylinders, their stock position and other relevant information in the show room for the information of their customers.

In the on going observation of Zero Tolerance by Traffic Police and Enforcement Staff of the State Transport Department, the defaulters detected in course of checking were fined on the spot. The fine imposed for non-possession of driving Licence is 500 rupees while taking 400 rupees for non-clearance of road tax. In case of non-insurance, fine up to 1 thousand rupees was imposed on the defaulter. Meanwhile a large number of vehicle owners continue to queue in the DTO’s office to clear their dues.

In the India International Trade Fair in New Delhi, Mizoram Day was observed yesterday. The function was graced by the Chief Minister, Mr. Lal Thanhawla as the Chief Guest. Those who attended the observation of Mizoram Day included Industries Minister, Mr. S.Hiato, Art & Culture Minister, Mr. PC Zoramsangliana, LAD Minister, Mr. PC Lalthanliana, Lok Sabha Member, Mr. CL Ruala, Nagaland Lok Sabha member, Mr.CM Chang and Goa Chief Secretary, Mr. Haukhum Hauzel. The Parliamentary Secretary, Mr. Lal Thanzara, Mr. KS Thanga, Mr. Chawngtinthanga and Mr. S. Laldingliana also visited Mizoram pavilion today.

Mizoram Journalists Association is to raise donation in aid of poor patients in Aizawl Civil Hospital. This decision was taken in the MJA Executive Committee meeting held in Aizawl today under the chairmanship of the President, Mr. K. Sapdanga. The meeting also approved induction of 10 more new members in the fold of the Journalist Association.
