November 7th, 2009 | by admin |Multi Disciplinary Central High Power Team visited Reiek and Sihphir area today to study implementation of Central development schemes. On his way to Reiek, the Team leader, Mr. SN Brohmo Choudhury visited the housing scheme for economically weaker section of the people being constructed at Lawipui. The housing scheme launched in this place consists of 400 units. Our Corr. understands that the Team leader is happy with the on going construction work. He also visited Greater Aizawl Water Supply Scheme Phase-I to inspect utilization of 168 lakh rupees provided by the Centre for renovation of the water supply scheme for which the PHE Department had purchased both diesel and electric pump sets to be installed at the earliest convenience for replacement of the old pump sets. After his arrival in Reiek, he visited the Public Health Centre, School constructed under SSA, Anganwadi Centre, Turmeric processing unit of the Cooperative Society and the roads constructed under NREGS. In the afternoon he interacted with Job Card holders of the village in the Community Hall and asked a number of questions concerning NREGS. Our Corr. understands that the Multi Disciplinary Central High Power Team leader was happy with what he had seen on the way and in Reiek village.Another batch of the Central Team headed by Dr. Surjit Nayak visited AH&Vety Department farm in Selesih today. Our Corr. understands that he is impressed with the artificial insemination for multiplication of hybrid pigs, the poultry farm including the hatchery. He also visited farmers of Sihphir who grow squash and other cash crops. In honour of the Team, a dinner is being arranged this evening by the NLUP Implementing Board Chairman, Mr. R. Selthuama in State Guest House. The Team will leave Aizawl for New Delhi tomorrow.

Seventh Day Adventist has set up new hospital known as Mid Aim Hospital in Champhai recently. Talking to reporters in Champhai yesterday, the Adventist leader, Mr. Sapthanga and the Managing Director of the Hospital, Mr. Lalramchullova said, the Hospital is set up with donation received from Voluntary Organization in Germany. They also said that the hospital being run in a private house presently is planned for 20 bedded hospital where everyone can get treatment without discrimination. Presently the hospital is manned by 20 staff members including Managing Director, one doctor, 6 nurses, one laboratory technician and other supporting staff. They also informed media persons that Dr. Kai Magmisson who visited Champhai in 1999 saw a case of delivery referred to Aizawl Civil Hospital and he felt that the people of Champhai needed hospital to meet the peoples demand.

The position of power supply to Mizoram has slightly improved with reciprocal setting and synchronization of power between power grid and Luangmual Power Sub Station. Our Corr. understands from the Department sources that with this setting availability of grid power has gone up to 54 megawatts which is added by the State generation of 2 megawatts of power while the peak load demand is not less than 60 megawatts. Meanwhile on the instance of North East Regional Power Corporation, the SE, Mr. C. Lianlunga and AE, Mr. Lalnunmawia Sailo studied power system of Norway recently. In a meeting held in Tourist Complex, Berawtlang last night, the two officers apprised Senior Power Department officials of what they have acquired during their study tour.

In view of the forth coming Christmas and New Year, the enforcement staff of Excise and Narcotics Department launched a special drive against illicit liquors in Phunchawng, Rangvamual and Melriat recently. According to the Department press release, a number of brewing chambers were destroyed in addition to fermented liquors of 4863 Tins, 580 litres of illicit liquor. They also arrested two persons in this connection.

Health Care Scheme Bill Pending Association has unanimously resolved to submit a PIL in connection with inordinate delay of their pending bills by Reliance General Health Insurance Company Ltd. A decision to this effect was taken in a meeting held in Vanapa Hall today under the chairmanship of Mr. Rualkhuma Hmar. According to the spokesman of Bill Pending Association, pending bills received by them so far is 925 and the estimated liability to be cleared by the Insurance Company is over 600 lakh rupees excluding the pending bills of Private Hospitals such as Durtlanga Presbyterian Hospital, Bethesda, Grace Nursing Home, New Life and Green Wood Hospital. It may be recalled that Mizoram State Health Care Scheme was introduced by the Government in the middle of last year specially for families having no government servants by utilizing 5000 lakhs from the Plan fund for 2008-2009. Unfortunately the scheme landed intro trouble since October last year because of mushroom growth of MR bills which was beyond expectation of the Reliance Health Insurance Company.

The second batch of National Trekking and Caving Expedition was flagged off by YHAI President, Mr. Dominic Lalhmangaiha today. Meanwhile the first batch of the Expedition team who covered Reiek peak, Khuangchera puk, Tlawng river arrived in Sairang Sihhmui today. In this trekking, 70 trekkers from Tamilnadu, Kerala, Andrapradesh, Orissa, West Bengal, Karnataka, Maharastra, Assam, Rajasthan, Madhyapradesh and Delhi are participating.
