Addressing the party workers in Congress Bhawan this morning, the Home Minister also said that the Government is not to bow under the pressure of any organization. In an apparent reference to the MSU class boycott call in Lunglei, the Home Minister also asserted that the Government’s action in this regard is not influenced by any pressure from any group. Meanwhile, the class boycott call given today by Lunglei MSU Regional Hqrs. evoked partial response. Our Lunglei Corr. reported that the students in some Schools who attended their classes in the morning left their Schools in the afternoon. Students in the Colleges also boycott their classes as a token of expression of solidarity with the MSU leaders. The teachers however were seen in the Schools and Colleges during the day. It may be recalled that the class boycott call was given by the MSU leaders in Lunglei who demanded immediate filling of the post of the District Education Officer which remained vacant since February this year.
Greater Aizawl Water Supply Scheme Phase I and II have resumed pumping of water since last night after the entire set up was shut down yesterday. Official sources told our Corr. that pumping of water was resumed after draining and cleaning of all the main reservoir, zonal tanks and the main pipe lines following poisoning of the water source by unidentified miscreants. According to reports from the PHE Control Room in Tuikhuahtlang, about 18 lakh litres of water have so far been stored in the reservoirs and the distribution is expected to be normalized soon. Meanwhile the Department gives top priority to resumption of water supply to Civil Hospital and VIPs and the supply is normalized from today. In the meantime, the Police continue their investigation into the poisoning case. According to Police sources, no one is arrested so far in this connection.

Voluntary Organizations of East Tuipui constituency constituted a Monitoring Committee to monitor development works within the constituency. The Secretary of the Monitoring Committee, Mr. Lalnunhlima Sailo told our Corr. that the Group YMA is to take the lead in the monitoring activities and all the Departments, contractors under them and the Political Parties are expected to cooperate it. He also said that the Monitoring Committee members are representatives of the all the NGOs, Political Parties and MLA of the constituency.

Agriculture Minister, Mr. H. Liansailova briefed the Congress Party leaders on the New Land Use Policy of the Congress Government today. Addressing the meeting held in Golden Hall of the Congress Bhawan, the Agriculture Minister asserted that the action taken by the Government for implementation of the project is not slow and the agencies and functionaries responsible for its implementation are working with sincerity and dedication to ensure proper implementation of the project. Addressing the meeting, the NLUP Implementing Board Chairman, Mr. R. Selthuama said, NLUP Implementing Board will be formed in every District under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioners and a Monitoring Cell in all the Districts under the aegis of the MLA. Referring to deligation of power, the NLUP Implementing Board Chairman informed the Party workers that the Government will delegate sanctioning power to the Apex Board which will accord sanction of fund to meet the need of the beneficiaries. The meeting chaired by the Senior Vice President, Mr. R. Lalzirliana was attended among others by the leaders of MPCC, Mahila Congress, Youth Congress and leaders of Aizawl District Congress Committee.

Mizoram Youth Commission Chairman, Mr Hmingdailova Khiangte and the new MZP leaders discussed various initiatives taken by the Youth Commission in his Office today. The MZP leaders assured the Youth Commission chairman of all possible helps for implementation of the steps taken by the Youth Commission. The student leaders also conveyed their desire for early disbursement of Post Matric Tribal Scholarship to the students before the Christmas.

Repatriation of Bru refugees lodged in Tripura Camps is expected to begins in the 2nd half of this month. The issue was discussed today in the office of the Home Secretary, Mr. Lalmalsawma which was attended by the Director in the Home Ministry, Mr. RR Jha and the Bru leaders. According to official sources, the repatriation and rehabilitation Road Map drawn up by the State Government has been approved in principle by the Centre. However some minor alteration of the sites selected for their new settlement may be necessary when the actual repatriation process begins. In this meeting, the Bru refugees were represented by Mr. Sriromani, Elvis Chorki, Bruno Meska, A. Sawibunga and Mr. Dawngliana. As already stated, the Centre has approved 25 crore, 86 lakh rupees for repatriation of the Bru refugees on the basis of the project report submitted by the State Government and the process is expected to begin soon.

Mizoram Producers Guild expressed concern over violation of Copyright Reservation Act by a number of persons including Cable TV operators who telecast pirated foreign films which are translated into local language. In a press release, Mizoram Producers Guild also blamed the persons involved in such act which may have negative impact on the society.

Aizawl District Magistrate prohibited import, possession, display, sale and use of crackers, explosive and any other fire works with immediate effect. An order to this effect was issued under Section 144 of Cr. PC to remain valid for a period of 2 months.

Weather Forecast valid for tomorrow indicated no rain in Aizawl city however there is 45% chance of rainfall.
